This performance became a passionate plea to address the profound issues in times of turmoil. Comprising ten actors and fourteen musicians, the performance presented a captivating multilayered narrative set in a vibrant imaginary city. Its inhabitants awoke one day in the midst of an overwhelming storm metaphorically representing the war. Spanning approximately forty minutes, the show unfolds without the need for spoken words. Instead, it relies on the evocative power of physical theatre, Baroque music and improvised actions.
This performance is a site-specific contemporary work. The large-scale pavilion, a canvas for the artistic expression, served as the backdrop for the poignant narrative. Premiering at the Kyiv Art Forum "Donkult," “pOST bLOCK” served as a reminder that even in the darkest of times, creativity can shine as a beacon of light. It was a simultaneous performance, primarily in the realm of physical theatre. Acting islands, akin to micro stages, were scattered throughout the vast hall. The audience was granted the privilege of choosing their narrative journey and the succession of events, making each experience highly personal.
Each micro stage unveiled a poignant personal story, and collectively, these narratives wove a tragic yet remarkably beautiful tapestry of the people living in the midst of war. It was a profound exploration of the human spirit in the face of adversity, a testament to the enduring power of art to bridge divides and inspire empathy.
